Go here and download and install Magic Jelly Bean. Once you run it, it will show you your registration keys for Windows, office and a few other items. I don't suggest considering it for more than that. I sense the ownership of the product has changed, as this later version is kinda different than in the past - aggressive sales etc.

It should also tell you which version of Office is installed.

But no, there is no one or a few files that might be part of an existing Office install, and can return the entire program if used. This can be a stickler.

Look through the info here about moving everything to a new user account. It may look like a good bit, but in truth it is only making a new account, rebooting to it once, then rebooting to Safe Mode, Admin account, and copying some files. This may very well correct much of the issues occurring there now. And you can test it, without changing anything on the current account.

When I did the Magic Jelly Bean download, it gave me Product Keys and IDs for Windows XP and Office Home And Student 2007 as well as Office Home Ultimate.  Home and Student, if I remember correctly was a 6 month trial that came with the computer and Office Ultimate is the one we purchased online.  For some reason though, I was under the impression that the download key was only valid for a certain amount of time.  Does this make sense?  Is there anything I can do with this or should I try creating another user?

While we were having all the problems with the system I could not do a System Restore.  Would it help get my programs back if I tried one now?

System Restore tends to leave user account data and settings alone, so not real sure how it would benefit things there. Unfortunately, your System Restore recent points are likely terribly infected, and cannot be used. So going back before the infection "may" bring some improvement, but probably complicate some program issues, and not a good trade off. Why not create the new user account, copy the files, and see if that brings you to a better situation.

When I create a new User Account it just comes up with the programs that originally came with the machine and I tried to get the files thay suggested on the site (C:\users\....) and they were nowhere to be found.  I can open Internet Explorer and then Outlook by clicking on the envelope in IE.  If I could just get icons for them on the taskbar I would be ocntent.  As I said earlier, the only programs I really need are these two and my tax files and by downloading the previous years' Tax programs, all the info comes up in them properly.  Is there any asy way to get: 1.) icons for IE and Outlook on the taskbar and 2.) Outlook in the Start Menu?

That actually would not be possible, since those are the different user accounts, and the essential files that allow them to work.

In reviewing, my earlier statement about System Restore isn't correct. I was thinking about an actual restore of the entire system, using some boot method. Why not just go ahead and do a System Restore, to a day or so prior to the problems occurring. You still may have user file access problems, but let's see.
